“Fleuron”

My Solo Show at D2 Gallery

From December 5th through the 27th, my paintings will be on display at D2 Gallery, in the Historic Lorraine Building in Spokane, Washington.

Please join me for the First Friday reception on December 5th from 5 to 8 pm. I will have original paintings and limited edition prints available, but I am most excited to see a variety of familiar faces throughout the evening!

In typography, a fleuron is a small floral ornament used to fill empty space. In this series, I reverse that idea. Instead of a flower as decoration, I’ve made the flower the focus: expansive, commanding, and unapologetically present.

Each painting magnifies the dahlia until its petals verge on abstraction, curving and unfolding with strength and intention. Through hyperreal detail, I explore how subjects often labeled as feminine or delicate can embody power, structure, and presence.

Fleuron transforms what was once a quiet decorative mark into something monumental. These blooms are not fragile. They are bold, full of volume and movement, and unafraid to take up space.
