"Bed Head" Original Acrylic Painting
"Bed Head" is an extremely important painting to me. I painted it right after college graduation. I had just earned three business degrees but had this undeniable desire to pursue an art career even though it is a gamble. This painting was how I was going to prove it to myself that I could be a professional artist. It took more patience than expected, but I'm just so in love with the finished piece.
I named it "Bed Head" because the messy, tangled petals remind me of hair after a long deep sleep. The dahlia is stretching its petals but is still curled up not wanting to fully wake up. Its palette is calm but its movement is the opposite.
The acrylic painting is 12" x 12" on stretched canvas and the image stretches onto all sides of the canvas. I applied 4 coats of varnish to protect the painting. It is wire-backed and ready to hang.
